Privacy Policy

Last updated 22 August 2026. What we collect, why, and for how long.

ARGUS is built around a simple premise: checking whether a wallet is safe to accept money from shouldn’t require handing over your own identity. This page describes what we actually collect, in the order you would encounter it.

1. A free, anonymous check

Submitting an address for the daily free check does not require an account, a name, or an email address. We log the address queried, the timestamp, and a rate-limiting identifier (typically an IP address) long enough to enforce the daily limit and detect abuse. That log is not linked to any other identity we hold, because for an anonymous check there isn’t one.

2. Accounts and paid plans

If you create an account or subscribe to a paid tier, we additionally hold:

  • The email address you register with.
  • Billing information, processed by our payment provider — we do not store full card numbers ourselves.
  • API usage: which endpoints were called, when, and by which key, for billing and abuse prevention.

3. Addresses and reports

A wallet address is public ledger data the moment it exists on-chain — checking it does not create new information about its owner. We cache traced addresses so a repeat query is fast; that cache is keyed to the address, not to whoever asked. Generated reports are retained for a limited period to let you return to a past result, then expire.

4. Where the underlying data comes from

Risk assessments draw on public blockchain data, published government sanctions lists (including OFAC’s SDN list), and attribution research — our own and licensed third-party sets. None of this involves purchasing or scraping personal data about individuals; it is analysis of transactions that were already public.

5. Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies required for the site and, where enabled, privacy-respecting product analytics to understand which parts of the service get used — not advertising trackers, and not cross-site profiling. If that changes, this page will say so before it happens.

6. What we do not do

  • We do not sell query data or account data to third parties.
  • We do not build a profile of an individual’s off-chain identity from the addresses they check.
  • We do not share your billing details with anyone beyond the payment provider that processes them.

7. Your rights

You can request a copy of the account data we hold, ask us to delete it, or close your account, by writing to [email protected]. Anonymous free checks have no linked identity to export or delete beyond the rate-limit log described above, which ages out on its own.

8. Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects how we handle data you have already given us, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for account holders, notify you at the address on file.
